Paint the State Tips

Following these tips will help you complete a successful project eligible to win cash prizes.

  1. Register by deadline.
  2. Ask your local paint and hardware stores to donate paint and other supplies. Local cooperatives and businesses may also donate in-kind supplies or cash to support the project.
  3. Follow the contest Rules to create a “monument-size” art piece. Judges will give extra points to artwork that is 8×8 feet in size or larger.
  4. Secure a high-trafficked public location in your community to install your art piece, with permission from the property owner. Sides of buildings, grain elevators, fields, and fences make for great locations.
  5. Produce a major piece of art that will be a lasting testament of your hard work and effort to inspire drug-free lives in Montana.

The Meth Prevention Lesson Video

The Prevention Lesson is the only Meth prevention curriculum endorsed by the national Red Ribbon Campaign. It is a free one-click video hosted by one of Montana’s top middle school teachers that demonstrates the effects of Meth use on the mind and body. The Prevention Lesson is a great way to engage students in Paint the State and learn why Meth prevention is so important.
